Hi Brandon, have you been given an answer to your query or have any further info?
I was just thinking about this tonight as I have many partial sets and want to
know which to prioritize to complete but it's hard to tell what the completion
percentage bar indicates in wanted lists. Brickedboi.

Bricklink averages things like this in strange ways. They do something similar
for average sales prices too. They do a calculation per lot, then average that
result over all lots irrespective of the size of the lots.

See here:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1339636

It is often best to do the calculations by hand and ignore BL's statistics.

In Suggestions, bajman writes:
The formula for the Wanted List Percentage does not properly calculate the percentage
of "HAVE" parts compared to the "TOTAL" Parts. Should the % shown be the amount
of "Have" pieces vs the total number of "Wanted" pieces, or is it intended to
provide some other detail? It's not showing the percent of LOTS completed,
and its not showing the percent of Parts with Have qty equaling the Want qty.
The formula seems to be working is a convoluted way, combining the percentage
for Want/Have and the percentage of Lots with any Have parts, and the total number
of lots.

Example #1 to illustrate the issue:
Wanted list with TWO lots.
Lot #1, Want 100, Have 10 (This is 10% of the want value)
Lot #2, Want 900, Have 0 (This is 0% of the want value)

The Percentage bar should show 1% (10 of 1,000), but the formula produces 5%.

Example #2 to illustrate the issue:
Lot #1, Want 100, Have 0 (This is 0% of the want value)
Lot #2, Want 900, Have 900 (This is 100% of the want value)

The percentage bar should show 90% (900 of 1,000), but the formula produces 50%.

Example #3 to illustrate the issue:
Lot #1, Want 100, Have 0 (This is 0% of the want value)
Lot #2, Want 450, Have 900 (This is 50% of the want value)

The percentage bar should show 45% (450 of 1,000), but the formula produces 25%.

In all examples, the percentage shown does not equate to anything tangible, real
or useful, and if very misleading

Unfortunately, this misinformation has led to many, many lost hours and much
frustration.

Please work to correct the formula, so that the percentage bar is a real, actual,
useful representation of the data.

If by some odd situation, the bar is performing as intended, please clarify its
intended function.

Thank you,
Brandon

In the secondary sense this site is about enthusiasts - there are users who might
want to compare/show lists to others, without any marketing interest or indirect
advertizement attempts. An inventory list where all items are (by default) not
for selling. In tertiary terms parts of such a list can then at any time become
available for purchase.

Within just the past 24 hours there have been two threads from sellers asking
about being contacted via bricklink and dealing off bricklink. Allowing non-selling
users to show others what they have on a marketplace site will almost certainly
lead to more of that behaviour.

If you wantbto show off your collection to others then use a public brickset
list, or put photos on Flickr or videos on YouTube.

Erm, are you sure you wish to list what you have?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBb9w2qfJc8

Otherwise doesn't rebrickable do this?
(I've an account there but never used a feature realted to what I could
own, so I don't know..)

Much more, you may use BrickStore, free and open source, like many (I'd say)
people in the LEGO passion, and share your file(s) to chosen friends...

I thought this was an option implemented years ago.

I had a vague recollection of it as well. But, I went looking for the setting
and didn't find it. I personally never wanted the Submit Changes button at
the top as it took up too much space. As long as hitting Enter still works, I
am all good.

This is a primarily a marketplace. Why do you need to tell other people what
you have in your collection? If a non-seller can publish a list of items they
own, it could lead to sales from that list outside of the proper marketplace.

Otherwise I'm not sure about the practical use to compile such a list at all.

Over the years on BL there had been consistent calls from members without seller
status, to share the same ability in maintaining inventory, sellers enjoyed.
I can only guess the “My Collection” feature was created in answer to those years
of prompting, without considering it's further usefulness or full potential?

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2566&q=My+Collection

That said, why not as you say, expand the features usefulness...

Can we have BL (after a 1 - 2 month period) send out a fallow up email for buyers
who haven’t yet completed and/or left feedback for their order? Thanks all!

Completed yes. I order regularly on aliexpress and they do this. They send
an email asking how it went. They follow up later with an email saying they
are going to identify the order is completed. All regularly on behalf of their
sellers. Not a big deal. Probably avoids the five months later someone saying
they didn’t receive something. This is a legitimate issue for sellers. The
time limit for a PayPal refund is longer than my time limit for a postal insurance
claim.

Though, Bricklink also does this by purging orders from the website. Its a long
time limit but difficult to resolve any issues afterwards.

  Hi there.
Following up on the just just send out newsletter;

It stated clearly that sets have to be marked as a custom set , instead as "incomplete"
when minifigures are missing.

As of now the rules on this are somewhat subject to point of view.

Also it states on the page before the definitions that incomplete sets status
does count when minififures are missing.

"Item For Sale Condition (New/Used) and Sub-Condition (Complete/Incomplete/Sealed)
must adhere to their respective Definitions. For example, sets which have been
previously built must be listed as Used. Sets without Minifigures must be listed
as Incomplete."

From page :
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=103

"Incomplete - Contents are brand new, but may have been removed from plastic
bags for inventory purposes or to remove other contents from the set. The set
is missing some of the contents, instructions or original box/packaging. The
description should clearly state what exactly is missing."

From page :

Kijd regards.

I don’t see the suggestion you are making. Is this post in the correct area?

That would be fun for the sets with two capes in one box. I forget if it was
