I would be in favor of moving 30562 to the panel category. That's how I
organize that part in my own collection.

If you do that, then you have to move half of the Cylinder category into Panel

|
According to the first definition on Google (and I know Google isn't always
100% accurate) -
Cylinder: Noun - a solid geometrical figure with straight parallel sides and
a circular or oval cross section.
So, yeah, halves and quarters aren't cylinders if you use that definition;
therefore panel is probably a better category.
As for moving half the cylinmders, well if they don;t fit some sort of global
definition for cylinder, perhaps they were in the wrong place to start with?

There is some mixing indeed:
Maybe they are just Panel, Corner Round

Yeah, me too I can cherry pick one definition for each category in the catalogue
to make sure its parts don’t fit
For choosing names for categories, the question would be: do the parts fit at
least one of the common “global” definitions for the word.
For particular parts, the question would be: what differentiates that part from
the other parts that are already in that category and what would make it not
fit in that category?
Maybe Cylinder is a bad category and we should have Panel, Round for those panels
and something else for the other “cylinders” (Brick, Round? (Hemi)Spheres?).

I don't envy anyone deciding where each component should go - if you put
it in one, people will argue it should be in the other. Good luck to the Catalog
guys! They get it pretty much right, most of the time, methinks.

Right now, we are trying to deal with these:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1303408
Unfortunately, we don't have the time to deal with more than one large group
of items at once, so it may be a while before we ever get to the ones being discussed
here. They will not be forgotten, though.

Oh, a 24-month-long waiting queue. That’ll be handled before the tag system
then

The panel doesn't have studs on top, so it can't connect to other LEGO
elements on the underside. If that's not confusing enough then there's
this part:
This part came out for use in LEGO balloons that don't even float in the
air and other similar structures and it doesn't even fit seamlessly with
other panel pieces. Why is it even in the "panel" category to begin with?
I don't even understand BrickLink logic.
Cheers ...

| Me thinks is a Panel (a round one) because it's this one a bit bigger
and rounded
I agree with Stellar, and shouldn't be in Panel category.
My 2 cents.
